Compact and lightweight retractable type fall arrester with impact-resistant ABS protective cover and strong 46 mm polyester webbing with energy absorber.

The EN 360 compliant 2 metre retractable type fall arrester can be used in working conditions with fall factor 2 thanks to the webbing locking mechanism that stops the fall, suitable for work on scaffolding or maintenance work in confined spaces (e.g. aerial masters). The Kapriol retractable type fall arrester's swivel ring anchorage system guarantees safety, autonomy and freedom of movement during use.

Compact and light, it allows the operator to move over a wide range with a high safety standard. It complies with the EN 360 standard and can also be used for work situations where the fall factor is 2. In the event of a fall, the device retracts the webbing inside it allowing to reduce the fall length and therefore the necessary safe fall clearance, preferring it to the use of the lanyard which would require a much higher safe fall clearance and therefore not being able to work safely when the working heights are reduced.

Use on platform

If there is a risk of falling outside the platform, it is essential that the operator is equipped with an adjustable lanyard with energy absorber (art. 27948/27953) or with the retractable fall arrester device (art. 27937).

Use of retractable fall arrester 2m

The retractable fall arresters comply with EN 360. They are fall arrest systems that can be connected directly to the harness by connectors. Easy and practical to use. Equipped with a self-locking system and automatic return of the lanyard, they allow the operator to work safely while maintaining high freedom of movement. Retractable fall arresters are particularly useful for work on pitches, scaffolding, trellis and stairs. They can have wire rope or polyester webbing with length of 2, 6, 10 or 20 meters.

1. Connect the retractable fall arrester to the anchor point
2. Connect the connector on the end of the wire rope or textile webbing to the breast or back harness ring, if necessary (access from below) use the lanyard supplied as standard to retrieve the end of the wire rope
3. Progress in total freedom both up and down, the device follows the operator’s movements, ready to intervene
4. If you use the lanyard to recover the connector, at the end of the work it must be released slowly until the wire rope has completely rewound. DO NOT release the lanyard suddenly as this could cause damage to the retractable fall arrester

Use on ladder or metal structure

The risk of falling during the assembly and disassembly of a scaffolding can be very high. The walking surfaces placed at limited heights above the ground require the use of specific PPE. Kapriol Safety offers two solutions to solve the problems of limited safe fall clearance: lanyards 27948/27906 (pag 22) and the retractable fall arrest device 27937 (pag 33). Equipped with limited shock absorber they allow you to work safely from the first two decks at a height of less than 4 m.

1. By hooking the lanyard to the upper part of the second deck, the fall factor is close to 0, in the event of a fall, the absorber is not even stressed, therefore its extension is zero.
2. By connecting the lanyard (Item 27948/27906) inside the second deck, the limited extension of the absorber allows you to stop any fall before the operator reaches the ground.
3. Connecting a temporary lifeline (consider the bending that the lifeline generates at max. 70 cm), the operator can move freely as there are no more limited safe fall clearance problems.

Assembly - disassembly of scaffolding

Correct and regular maintenance helps prevent premature ageing of PPE. For this reason, users are recommended to carefully respect all indications found in the user and maintenance manual that accompanies each PPE and to follow the simple storage and preservation rules:

  • Keep away from sunlight and UV rays as these are the primary cause of ageing of PPE textile fibers
  • Keep PPE away from direct heat sources as the synthetic textile fibers used to make harnesses, lanyards, and energy absorption systems have a very low melting temperature
  • PPE must be stored in cool and dry areas, as humidity generates mold harmful to textile fibers and corrosive on metal parts
  • A periodic cleaning operation is essential to ensure a good durability of the PPE
  • A washing with lukewarm water eliminates surface dirt and that present inside the textile fibers
Maintenance and storage of PPE

The current legislation requires that each equipment must be subjected to periodic inspections:

  • Before, during and after use, the user must check the PPE conditions and integrity through a visual inspection after each use
  • At least every 12 months, PPE must be subjected to mandatory periodic checks and inspections by competent personnel authorized by the manufacturing company

Each PPE is accompanied by a manual and identity card that must be kept for the entire use duration of the product and filled in with the periodic inspections data.
