Rescue-procedures and use of rescue kit

Use of rappelling rescue and retrieval kit art. 27962

The current regulations provide that in every construction site there is the presence of a rescue kit for rappelling in order to provide immediate assistance in case of accidental falls.
To ensure speed and correctness in the rescue intervention, correct training in the use of this device is essential.
The training of the rescue teams members or workers designated for this role is carried out during the mandatory training courses.

There are two types of rescue kit:

  • rappelling
  • rappelling/retrieval kit

Phase 1: In the case of a single operator, proceed as with the previous kit, with the only difference that the injured person can be lifted thanks
to the manual hoist included in the kit. This operation is used both to be able to release the injured person from the fall arrest system if it could not be cut (e.g. wire rope of a retractable device), or to bring the injured person back to an escape plan positioned above

PHASE 2: If you work with two rescuers, one of the two is lowered until he reaches the injured person and here he directly performs all the connection, lifting and release operations of the injured person. Then the first operator who is maneuvering the descender from the rescue kit anchor point, lower the other rescuer and the injured person to the ground. This method is particularly suitable in cases where the injured person is unconscious and therefore unable to collaborate during the rescue phases
